Color Block Tank

The only day I got dressed this week was this past Monday when I wore this color block tank from the company I work for "The Royal Standard". You can find it at theroyalstandard.com . It's super comfy and airy for these hot summer days and versatile between work and play. Here I wore it with white linen pants but I could wear it on the weekend with shorts and sandals for a dressed down look. Love it with the Kendra Scott Rayne in black, even though it hits the navy block I've never been afraid to mix navy and black. Have a great weekend!

Palms

Palm prints have been trending the last couple of summers and I finally joined the club, scored these palm print shorts at Old Navy outlet at half off! I searched my closet for a white top and found this eyelet one from J Crew a couple of years ago. One thing I love about J Crew is how so many things I buy there are classics and the quality lasts for several seasons. I have been doing mainly online shopping lately through bloggers affiliate links (lucky them) so it was fun to get out to a store the other day..though I will say my local Old Navy outlet needs some serious attention. There were no employees, or they weren't very attentive to customers or the floor, it smelled strange, and the displays were a disaster. It was like shopping a Goodwill which quickly reminded me why I love online shopping now much more. I know its an outlet store but they've got to have some standards for customer service and visuals/maintenance. Anyway, being that I manage a retail store its so hard for me not to judge stores when I go in one. So off that rant, if you do go in an Old Navy outlet for these cute shorts, I hope you have a better experience!

Instagram and why I have not posted in a year.

Hello anyone who may happen to read this! I haven't posted a blog in almost a year and I felt inspired so I thought I would talk about what's been going on lately. I post my daily outfit on instagram under @whatrachelwore which I started a couple of years ago after following a few other fashion bloggers and instagrammers who did the same thing. At first I remember thinking "why is she posting pictures of herself" and it seemed like they were bragging about what they had and what name brands they owned. So it was a love hate following for awhile when after I had my second daughter Evie, I was at home needing something to do to feel connected to who I am (since I was off work). So i decided I would start a fashion instagram where I would post outfits, beauty, etc. I did not tell anyone I was doing it (except my husband) because I didnt want anyone I knew to follow me because I didnt think they would understand or judge me the way I judged the few girls I followed in the beginning. You have to be careful about how you perceive things you see on the internet and I did not want to send the wrong message, so it stayed pretty private to people I knew until recently. Somehow one person discovered my page and the next thing I know my brother is calling me to ask if I was a celebrity. (Which really my following is nothing near the following of serious bloggers so I laughed at him.) So at this point I thought "what the hell" if people I know follow me then good. They'll just know me that much better. I cannot be ashamed of what I love to do. This is me and I'm going to fo what I love as selfish as it may sound. It's important for me to still stay the same person as far as what I love/how I dress even though I'm a mother of two young girls. A lot has happened in the last few years so @whatrachelwore has given me a place to go to escape and inspire and be inspired. Now when I say "fashion instagram" I always laugh at myself inside really because my outfits and posts are nothing close to what I wish they were, if you can even call it fashion..its certainly not high fashion, it's just casual, affordable everyday wear for a southern girl who works in retail. But it's real and I think thats why people like it. My looks are very attainable and usually inspired by major bloggers like @theteacherdiva and @alysonhaley. I would love to truly write a blog and have a photographer but I cannot think of how to even begin to make the time for it. It is always in my mind to start a real blog but I cannot wrap my brain around it. So for now I rely on instagram and pray that one day I will chase after other dreams . I hope that my instagram will inspire people like me who wake up not having a clue what to wear to work, feeling like I have "nothing to wear" until I see someone wearing an outfit I have in my closet that I forgot about...throw on a necklace or different accesories and it's a brand new look you could not have created on your own. I just hooe that no one views it as bragging or "look at me" kind of thing because that's not at all my goal. My goal is to inspire and be inspired, to share looks and shopping finds with the rest of the fashion crazy women like me who live, eat, breathe clothes, jewelry and handbags. It's been a fun little journey waking up getting ready and managing to get out the door with two kids and snap/post my daily outfit. I'm truly proud of myself for it. It has helped me to stay true to who I am and to never thingk that just because I'm a mom I need to dress in sweatpants or a moomoo everyday. No, I aint bout that life. (I actually tried it after my first daughter was born- I don't even want to talk about those dark days.) So I'll continue my "fashion" instagram until I no longer feel like it or get too busy for it but my hope is that I will create more time and post more blogs and work on creating a better blog...until then I may blog again this year but who knows. Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this!

Statement Necklace Organization

Today my husband finally hung my hooks for my necklaces. We bought these key hooks from Target about 3 months ago and I've probably asked him 6 times and today he finally did it. I originally had these draped over an iron mannequin but they were too heavy and weighing it down on one side, plus it was hard to get them off. I like the simplicity of these and how they're right next to my clothes in the closet so when I'm choosing what to wear I can see the jewelry too.

4th of July

This 4th of July I had to work..which I really didn't mind because my husband is on call with his work so we wouldn't be able to make plans anyway. So today I thought about wearing something completely non-patriotic but just thought I had to put something together and I'm glad I did. Sometimes I think outfits related to a country or football teams can be very cheesy so I tried to stay simple. Fashion to me is whatever I feel like wearing and sometimes it may not be the color cheme of the holiday or game day but this year I went along with the crowd. I pulled these red linen pants from Victorias Secret that I actually wore last July 4th with this navy Michael Kors tank and Derng bead necklace topped with a red lip. Had the red, white and blue thing nailed I thought until my husband insisted my top was black. I had to show it to him next to black to prove it. Michael Kors navy is a true, deep navy. Almost a midnight blue. So to a lot of people it is easily mistaken for black. So perhaps I got looks today thinking I was a Georgia fan in red and black but I knew it was navy and I felt patriotic. I'm very blessed to have freedom in this wonderful country.

So I had to take a picture at my front door when leaving for work this morning. Love this American flag doormat from my store!

And so this year I ended the day with chocolate pie and wine after having steaks with my mom, stepdad and brother to celebrate America and my brothers birthday which was a couple days ago. No fireworks this year but I'll be looking forward to next and enjoying my quiet time tonight:)

Light Chambray

Today's look was this chambray button down dress from Gap Outlet that I purchased this past weekend. It's an easy throw on for a hot summer day like today. I really need to get more dresses in my wardrobe especially with how hot this summer has been. I was going to put a green beaded necklace but it just wasn't right so I grabbed this Jcrew Factory necklace and it popped perfectly. Add the infamous Target glitter sandals and I was ready for the day!

Date Night

Date night! Hubby and I finally had a night to ourselves, it's been about 4 months! He took a picture of the back of my dress I got from the store I work at, HRH dba The Royal Standard..this brand is Umgee, an LA based apparel company. I loved wearing this dress, it was flowy and comfortable for a hot southern, summer night. We went the the Wharf and ate at Louisiana Pantry, he had steak and I of course had a boiled shrimp platter. After we shopped around the shops and I bought a Bourbon and Boweties coin bangle. We had gelato and coffee and after went to the beach and walked the shore. It was the perfect night with my forever date. It's so nice to slow down and appreciate life, sometimes it takes stepping back from the kids and the busy schedules and just enjoying each other's company. Moments like that are unforgettable when you step out of the routine of things. Hoping we can make an effort to do this more often, but don't want to spoil the magic of it:)
